Cookie Policy
Website cookies and similar technologies – last updated 11 September 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Caythorpe Candles uses cookies and similar technologies on caythorpecandles.co.uk.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small files or similar technologies stored on, or accessed from, your device when you visit a website. They can help a website function, remember choices, understand usage and support marketing or advertising.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
Some cookies are necessary for the website to operate, including functions such as shopping baskets, checkout, security and customer-session management. These may be used without consent where they fall within the legal exemption for strictly necessary technologies.
3. Non-essential cookies
Analytics, advertising, behavioural tracking and other non-essential cookies or similar technologies require appropriate consent where required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). We will not rely on simply continuing to browse as consent.
You should be able to accept or reject non-essential categories and change your preferences later.
4. Shopify cookies
Our source privacy material identifies Shopify cookies including cart, checkout, session, customer-login and analytics cookies. Shopify may change cookie names and functionality, so the live cookie list should be checked against the current Shopify configuration before publication.
Examples previously identified include: cart, cart_sig, cart_ts, checkout_token, _secure_session_id, _tracking_consent, _shopify_s, _shopify_fs, _shopify_sa_p, _shopify_sa_t, _shopify_y and _y. Not every cookie will necessarily be active on every visit.
5. Analytics
The previous website policy stated that Google Analytics was used. If Google Analytics remains enabled, it should be configured and deployed consistently with the site's consent mechanism. Analytics cookies are not automatically exempt from consent requirements simply because they are used for measurement.
If Google Analytics is no longer used, references to it should be removed from the live policy and cookie banner.
6. Advertising and social media technologies
If Caythorpe Candles uses advertising pixels, remarketing tags, social-media tracking or similar technologies, these should only be activated in accordance with applicable consent requirements and should be clearly described in the cookie consent tool and this policy.
7. Managing your choices
You can manage non-essential cookie preferences through the website's cookie-consent mechanism where available. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, although blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the online shop from working correctly.
If you withdraw consent, this will not affect processing that was lawfully carried out before consent was withdrawn.
8. Third parties
Third-party services may place or access cookies or similar technologies when enabled on the website. The relevant third parties may include Shopify, analytics providers, payment services, advertising platforms and social-media providers. The actual list should be reviewed whenever website apps or integrations are added or removed.
9. Contact
For questions about cookies or privacy, contact caythorpecandles@gmail.com.
10. Policy review
We will review this policy when we change website apps, analytics, advertising, checkout functionality or consent-management tools. The policy should be kept consistent with the live cookie scan and the cookie banner settings.
